The Great Divide is the brainchild of John Skipp. He, as well as a few very ambitious members of our class, have taken it upon themselves to write, produce and fund the film in a venture to provide a fantastic opportunity for everyone in class to be involved in bringing it to life. My dad, Skipp, and I live in different states. Every week I video chat with my pop and we talk about our week’s events, the movies we’ve watched, the food we’ve enjoyed., yadda yadda yadda. I’ve had the pleasure of almost eavesdropping in on this project as a tiny seed of an idea within his class, all through its development of the characters, music, and script and now through its actual creation. From our one-hour conversations every Saturday morning, I’ve grown to love this story and these characters and feel personally invested in this unique, organically devised, collaborative film. The plot is familiar yet COMPLETELY INSANE with some little nuggets coming straight from my childhood. I can’t wait to see society react to this kooky piece of art.
